What is coaching for Health and Wellbeing?

Life coaching is different from personal training and counselling by promoting you as the expert in the partnership. This means focusing on improving your quality of life, rather than addressing an emotional or physical problem. I will typically refrain from giving advice, prescribing or diagnosing an issue and instead use my expertise help you devise an action plan and provide you with the tools to achieve your personal and health goals.

Living a healthy, happy life is something many of us want to achieve, but what does it mean to live healthily? Generally, it refers to the practices we use and the choices we make to improve and support our good health. If a person lives a healthy lifestyle, they may actively follow a balanced diet, exercise regularly and care for their mental and physical well-being. Some people may need a little guidance to achieve this and a life coach can help you to understand what it means to live a healthy lifestyle and guide you through the changes you want to make.

How can coaching help you?

Life coaches use evidence-based techniques and strategies to support behavioural and attitudinal change to keep you well. They can guide and educate you to achieve health goals through lifestyle,  and behaviour adjustments. As a coach I can guide you to rediscover strengths, improve your lifestyle, enhance your focus and manage health conditions.

For effective life changes to be made, research suggests that people need to come to their own conclusions and decisions about how to manage issues in life, and to be clear about their aspirations.

Coaching provides the space to do this through questioning, listening,  clarifying and offering feedback. You remain in control of both the content of discussions and actions agreed. I will positively support your values and strengths to help clarify future goals and direction while helping to explore and manage any potential barriers.
